Anna Sophia (Nelson) Tonne-maker was born May 1, 1901 In Rush City, MN to Edward and Augusta (Erlksdoter) Nelson. She attended country school. She married Frank C. Tonne-maker In 1923 In Duluth, MN.

They farmed In Rush City and Ogllvle, MN. After Frank's death In 1935, Anna and their two children moved to Rush City and then to Minneapolis in 1 942. Anna worked at the Twin Cities Arsenal In New Brighton during WW II. at Moore Business Forms after the War, and then tor nearly twenty years she worked at the University ol Minnesota in the Food Service department In the Student Union and the University Hospitals. In 1978, after she was certified legally blind, she moved to Mankato to be near her daughter.

She had resided at Oaklawn Health Care Center since 1993. Previously, Anna was a member of Grace United Methodist Church of Minneapolis while she resided there and currently was a member of First Presbyterian Church ol Mankato. While farming she was a member of the Grange, a farm organization, and was a 53 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Ms. Tonnemaker is survived by son, F.

John was a lifelong dairy farmer and received the 1989 Washington Cty Farm Family of the Year Award. He was a graduate of SHS and an avid supporter of education and athletics. He served in the 1 1 th Airborne Division and was the Commander of the Stillwater American Legion Post 48 and a member of the 406 Voiture 791 and VFW Post 323.

He served on the May Town Board 22 years. He was a crop adjuster for Federal Crop Insurance and National Agriculture for 30 years. He was the president of German Farmers Mutual Insurance Company and a Board member of the ASCS County Committee. He served on the Washington County DHIA Board and the Mid-America Dairy Board.
