Tribune Obituaries Ex-St. Paul teacher John J. Walsh dies John J. Walsh, 41, a St. Paul native and former English teacher at Cretin High School, died unexpectedly of an undiagnosed brain tumor last week in Garden Grove, Calif.

Walsh taught at Cretin from 1975 until 1-1984. He was an adviser to the school newspaper and an assistant football coach. He won an Excellence in Education award from the Minnesota Business Foundation in 1981 for his work in developing programs for students with learning disabilities. expertise and legacy was teaching kids with learning disabilities," said I his youngest brother, Jim, of St. Paul.

He was teaching at an intermediate school i in Southern California at the time of his death. Walsh is survived by his wife, Krista Kelley, and two daughters, Shaun and Caitlin (Casey). Other survivors include his father, Edward and stepmother, Mary, of Minneapolis; brothers Edward Jr. and Jim of St. Paul, Michael of Stillwater and Thomas of River Falls, sisters Anne Gerber of Trumble, Patrice of Dublin, Ohio, Mary Kay Coo Salton Valley, Joan O'Neill of Australia and Sally of Minneapolis.

A memorial mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in St. Paul at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation will be at O'Halloran and Murphy from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

today. Rush City, retired Presbyterian minister The' Rev. John Deason, 73, a retired Presbyterian minister and chairman of the Rushseba Township Board, died Saturday of a liver ailment at his home in Rush City, Minn. Born in 1918. Deason graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in St.

Paul. After earning degrees from Carleton College in Northfield, and the University of Minnesota, he graduated in 1950 from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He was ordained in 1950 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis.
