THE MINNEAPOLIS MORNING TRIBUNE: WEDNESDAY AUGUST 28 1940 a PAGE THIRTEEN New Movie Firm Formed For Exploitation of Music Long List of Famous Artists Signed Up for School Project By LOUELLA O. PARSONS Hollywood, Aug. 27. heard of new movie conJUST -Artists Films, that has been formed to exploit music and to give to schools the best artists in the world via the screen. The plan sounds interesting and if it's practical may lead to something really worth while.

Headed by Rudolph Polk, vice president of the artists bureau of Columbia broadcasting, a long list of metropolitan and international favorites will be presented in film plays with music as the theme. Sounds really marvelous with John Erskine, famed author, and musical authority, signed to commentate and offer advice. Richard Bonelli, who is working on "There's Magic in Music" at Paramount, has agreed to make a picture and others who have signed or who are about to sign are Jose Iturbi, Albert Spalding, Helen Jepson, Gladys Swarthout, Frank Chapman, Lily Pons, Nino Martini, Mischa Elman, Josef Hoffman, Efrom Zimbalist, Arturo, Toscanini, Leopold Stokowski and Bruno Walter. AUERS SPENT DEAR WITH HEART! Anoka Officials Taken to Task Langlais Charges 'Poor Handling' of Tornado Aid Fund A charge that Anoka officials "at least handled very poorly" the tornado relief fund extended them last year was made last night by State Public Examiner Joseph T. Langlais following the filing of forgery charges against a former employe of the county. A number of Anoka officials connected with the relief fund are involved in further examination of records, Langlais said, although the involvement is likely to be limited to poor judgment and administration. So far no other irregularities have been found, he said. Under arrest yesterday was Vernon Selseth, a former state relief agency employe who was employed by the Anoka county welfare board for the tornado job, Langlais said.

The accusation is that he forged seven or eight relief warrants for a total of between $300 and $400. Ray P. Chase of Anoka, Republican senate candidate, challenged by Hjalmar Petersen to "write A pamphlet" about the affair, said he has one almost ready, dealing with "wanton misuse of public funds." He said persons responsible for "reprehensible distribution of relief funds were appointees of past radical administration inherited by the present Republican administration." One, Chase said, is in jail; another campaigning for one of his opponents, Senator Henrik Shipstead.
