4. Following a second consecutive day of very strong foreign cables, the local market opened active and higher with a good undertone, but encountered a general disposition to take profits by bull traders. This checked the advance, but the pit seemed able to absorb a grpat deal of wheat, as the market did not decline easily. From a speculative standpoint the lack of leadership tells on the day to day developments which, while inherently atrong, are subject more or less to intermittent selling waves since the majority of buyers are timid of the high level prevailing at present. Europe is showing marked evidence of being disturbed over the outcome of the Argentina crop.

There is a growing away of facts and figures to substantiate the claims of those whose estimates were ignored from 10 days to a month ago. From a surplus over 100,000,000 bushels. Brooinhall says Europe is now inclined to accept estimate around 80,000,000 bushels. Statistically the European situation keeps in a favorable position and this tend to check any too rampant speculation. The vihible abroad increased last, week bushels compared with decrease last year of 2,500,000 bushels.

The total stocks are comparatively large being 78,170,000 bushels at present against 54,300,000 bushels a year ago. A strong cash demand in tbe local market and moderate receipts at a time when this market expected to be overwheJmed with wheat find depressed by the weight encouraged holders' in the underlying strength of the market. One northern sold from (2c over May, which was firmer than on Monday. Elevator stocks increased bushclH. The flour shipments were large and millers reported fair sales'.

Primary receipts are running large indicating that there is a generous movement of wheat from the interior. At. outside centers the cash wheat situation was' not as strong as it was locally. a Oats were iu good general demand aud (stronger. Shipping interest improving.
