John Deason of Rush City, retired Presbyterian minister The' Rev. John Deason, 73, a retired Presbyterian minister and chairman of the Rushseba Township Board, died Saturday of a liver ailment at his toome in Rush City, Minn. Born in 1918, Deason graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in St. Paul. After earning degrees from Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., and the University of Minnesota, he graduated in 1950 from Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He was ordained in 1950 ai Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. He was the senior pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Rockford, 111., and served at churches in LaPorte, Ind., Pelham Manor, N.Y., Manitowoc, Wis., and Cedar Falls, Iowa. He retired in 1983. Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters Ellen Deason of Arlington, Va., Katheryn Friden of Manchester, N.H., Anne Dayanandan of Madras, India, Marion Jackson of Cocoa, Fla., and Jean Culver of Peru, N.Y.; sister Dorothy Grier of Chisago City, Minn., and eight grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at House of Hope Presbyterian Church, 797 Summit Av., St. Paul. Burial will follow at First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City and one hour before services at the church.
